Ads on YouTube

Google will announce its financial results for the third quarter, on Thursday, and until then, the company seems to be looking for revenue under every rock … YouTube may be the biggest rock of all.

Search for all kinds of respect for YouTube are turning into custody to one or more “promoted videos” on the right side-results pages. Each ad is composed of one small image, and Google Adwords-style ad text.

These hybrid combining Google-type text ads with video content from YouTube. The ads link to a sponsored page on YouTube that consist of user generated content found on YouTube itself. For example, Toyota Corolla has sponsored a “Best in jest” at the top of the page displays a list of ten funny YouTube videos. Under the video promotes Toyota cars and links to pages on toyota.com. Sometimes these ads reference to the custom-profile as a sponsor of these web sites, while others will simply play the video.

So keep an eye on that right column, as YouTube’s likely to start letting in more advertisers, and it may just be the next big thing for Google and possibly even marketers, too. [webpronews]

House Of Lords YouTube Channel Launches

youtube house of lords

The UK House of Lords is to launch its own YouTube channel.

Previously, seen by some as stuffy, a fairly rigid institution, it appears as the House of Lords, the Lords, or because it is usually abbreviated, has been trying to upgrade its image and become more accessible people. All the good stuff that should be supported.

Blogs too
It’s not just videos that M’Lords are getting into - they’ve also started a blog.

Lords of the Blog - somewhat of a strange title - is a self-proclaimed “experimental project to encourage direct dialogue between web users across the world and Members of the House of Lords” - again to be encouraged. (via)
